ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT

  • BAL Foundation Scholarship Program
    The purpose of the BAL scholarship is to recognize graduating high school student who have demonstrated academic excellence and/or community involvement and are interested in pursuing higher education at a two or four-year college or university.

  • Go To High School Go To College
    The “Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College” program, is on of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., national programs. Established in 1922, the program concentrates on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a road to advancement.

  • SAT Preparation
    The BAL Education Foundation recognizes the importance of high academic standards. There are a number of students in Baltimore who possess the ability to excel in college but have a difficulty mastering particular concepts for entrance exams. Our program will provide test taking techniques that will enhance their performance and test readiness.

LEADERSHIP AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Leadership Development Institute (LDI)
    The Leadership Development Institute (LDI) aims to develop a 21st century generation of leaders. This mission starts with young people, particularly those who demonstrate the potential to comprehend and apply the fundamental principles needed by leaders as well as whom, by virtue of their age and education, are often looked upon as role models.

  • STRONG FOUNDATION Mentoring Program
    The program mentors to middle school age boys in the 4th through 8th grades dedicated to building the self-esteem of the participants by instilling pride, stressing the importance of academic excellence, character building, conflict resolution, leadership and more. We will build honorable and confident young men, ready and willing to take their places as 21st century leaders.

  • Project Alpha 
    Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation began collaboratively implementing Project Alpha in 1980. This collaborative project is designed to provide education, motivation and skill-building for young male’s ages 12-15 years. This program is a half day program designed to educate 50 – 100 high school male students. The students are exposed to various topics that affect inner city youth which include male roles and responsibility, appropriate styles of male dress, civic duty, and the affect that pop culture has on society. The program also invites a health practitioner to talk about sexually infections and hygiene.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH

  • March of Dimes March for Babies
    March for Babies is the walk that saves babies. Promoted as the March of Dimes biggest fundraiser, March for Babies supports pioneering research and innovative programs that save babies born prematurely or with birth defects.
  • Adopt-A-Family
    Annually during the months of November and December, Beta Alpha Lambda Education Foundation (BAL Inc) has adopted a family. Our contribution has been to provide food baskets, toys, and clothing for families who have identified a need for those resources.
